I’ve wanted to build a dollhouse for several years now. I’ve pretty much asked for one every year for the past decade but they’re incredibly big and expensive so I’ve never received one.

I’m in my local Buy nothing group and along with giving you can ask for things too. I made a post admitting it was a long shot but if anyone had a dollhouse kit they gave up on that I would be grateful for it.

A woman told me she was almost certain she had one her husband began building before they have kids and then never went back to it. Their oldest is 34 so it’s old as heck. She said I was more than welcome to it.

I went to pick it up and then posted in the group thanking her and inviting anyone who wanted to follow along on my progress to visit my FB where my posts would be public. I then received a message from her daughter asking if she minded if I added her as a friend.

What the woman who gifted me this amazing white whale of a house didn’t tell me is that her husband died suddenly in 2016 and never got a chance to go back to it. I was so touched by this information and am determined to make it beautiful.

(The above are some cute miniatures Kolleen has selected for her dollhouse.  You can follow the progress of this dollhouse at Kolleen’s dollhouse blog In Every Dollhouse A Heartache.)
