DESCRIPTION
Dewy Decimals is a twisted love story to the library and the dual roles it played in my childhood: sanctuary and teacher. Growing up in a fundamentalist patriarchal, abusive home, I was prohibited many pleasures. I wasn’t allowed to watch anything that wasn’t PG, attend most secular social events, but my parents didn’t believe books were threatening or corruptive. I feel like I was corrupted in the best ways by books, and I’m so thankful I had the library to hide in and explore and define my sexuality on my own terms. Dewy Decimals is a memoir told in sonnets and prose poems.
